The iPhone 12 mini has finally landed in stores on November 13, but how does it stack up against the Samsung Galaxy S7, one of the hottest smartphones of 2020? Let’s take a closer look at the technical specs, and find out if it’s worth the upgrade!

This is a side-by-side comparison of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Apple iPhone 12 mini smartphone specifications. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch display, Exynos 8890 Octa engine, cameras, 4G LTE (700MHz) connection, and a 3000mAh battery.

The Apple iPhone 12 mini, on the other hand, features a 5.4-inch display, an Apple A14 Bionic processor, dual cameras, 5G connectivity, and a 2227mAh battery.

Size & Weight

The Apple iPhone 12 mini is significantly smaller in every dimension when compared to other iPhones and most other popular Android devices on the market. Its 5.4-inch screen measures just 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.4 mm diagonally (the smallest of any Apple smartphone since 2011) and its weight of 135 g ounces makes it lighter than even some kids’ toys.

Display

Although both devices are very similar in size and weight, they each have their strengths and weaknesses. For example, while Apple has made great strides to make its new smartphone water-resistant, it is not quite as rugged as its competitors. Some design flaws do give us pause, too. The volume rocker and sleep/wake button are both on the same side of the phone instead of opposite sides like most other smartphones—but that’s just our opinion; you might find it works for you!

Storage Capacity

Apple offers up to 256GB of storage, while Samsung starts at 64GB and tops out at 128GB (with a microSD card slot that allows for an additional 256GB). And even though Apple’s 64-gig model is more expensive than comparable models from Samsung, it’s still cheaper than you might expect—and it also has twice as much storage capacity.

Processor & Memory

The iPhone has a 64-bit Apple A14 Bionic (5 nm) chip inside and 4 GB of RAM. The Samsung phone, meanwhile, comes with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 820 (14nm) SoC and 4 GB of RAM.

Battery Life

The Apple iPhone 12 mini can last more than a day without needing to be recharged; in our tests, we got six hours of app use and five hours of video streaming per charge. In contrast, you can only expect about a day’s worth of battery life from an Android phone with a Similar-Size Battery.

The Galaxy S7 edge has dual 12-megapixel cameras, one of which features a wide-angle lens for group selfies and landscape shots; it also captures slow-motion video at 240 fps in 720p resolution, among other features such as optical image stabilization.
